Island Bay v Victoria

The club ventured south to Island Bay for our annual friendly fixture yesterday. Island Bay put on a good green, tough competition, and a great feed at the end of the afternoon. Results were close with Victoria winning the first and second rounds 3 matches to 2 but were only able to fend off a Island Bay v Victoria

Ross Thorn (Naenae) and Bruce Henderson (Johnsonville) won this year’s pairs 10-9 in a tense 12 end final with a fine display of draw bowling overcoming a determined effort from Canterbury’s Andrew Kelly and Victoria junior Mark Burgess. This year’s event was the driest in seasons with a new sponsor, increased prizemoney, great food, and 22nd Victoria Pairs results

February Twilight Bowls!

Twilight bowls tournament is happening again VERY SOON! Get your team together. Bradley Down skips side to upset win over Ali Forsyth’s dream team at national bowls championships

New Zealand development representative Bradley Down has already experienced a number of high points in bowls despite being just 19 years old. He received another big buzz when he skipped a side comprising his father, Graham, Finbar McGuigan and Caleb Hope to one of the biggest upsets of the New Zealand bowls championship when they Bradley Down skips side to upset win over Ali Forsyth’s dream team at national bowls championships

Commonwealth Games selection!

An experienced group of Para athletes have been named to the New Zealand team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games to compete in Para lawn bowls. Victoria’s Mark Noble, along with Bruce Wakefield and Barry Wynks, have been named to the team and will contest the B6/7/8 open triples Para lawn bowls event. Both Commonwealth Games selection!

The Mens Club Champ Fours draw is now posted on the Competitions page. Skips are to liaise with their teams on which days they are available to play the first two rounds within the choice of Saturday 6th, Sunday morning 7th, Saturday 13th, or Sunday 14th October, and either organise with their opponents, or get Mens Champ Fours draw posted…
